Bingham Canyon Mine – Take a scenic drive along the OquirrhMountains to the Bingham Canyon Mine, the world’s first excavation and largest open-pit, located 28 miles southwest of downtown Salt Lake City. The mine is 2 ½ miles across, and ¾-miles deep, it is one of the only two man-made objects that can be seen from outer space. The Bingham Canyon Mine is the second largest copper producer in the United States – While there, you experience mining in action, view historical photographs of the mine, and enjoy many interactive exhibits. On our way back, visit the forth largest terminal lake in the world; The Great Salt Lake is a destination that offers breathtaking panoramic views; not to mention the water is several times saltier then sea water; and sometimes considered and often names “America’s Dead Sea.” Tour Length: 4.5 Hours.
